How to Write a SaaS Video Brief That Delivers Results

You've decided to create a video. Now you need to brief the production team. A good brief saves time, money, and frustration. Here's what to include.

  • Your audience: Who are they? What are their titles, their pains, their goals?
  • Your value proposition: What is the one thing that makes your product unique?
  • Your competitors: Who are they? What are they doing with video?
  • Your goals: What do you want the video to achieve? More trials? More demos? More awareness?
  • Your must-haves: Any specific features, logos, or legal disclaimers that must be included?
  • Your don'ts: Is there anything you definitely don't want? (e.g., cartoons, jokes, technical jargon).

One of our clients gave us a brief that was 2 paragraphs long. We had to guess what they wanted. The first draft was completely wrong. A good brief saves everyone time and stress.
