Okay, so. Let me tell you about the week I didnât spend copy-pasting in After Effects.
We had a client. A B2B SaaS company. They needed 250 personalized explainer videos for an enterprise ABM campaign. Each video had the prospectâs company name, their logo, a custom pain point, and a tailored CTA. Six master templates. Rotating. Hyper-personalized at scale.
Sounds cool, right? It was. Until I realized what it meant for production.
By hand? Thatâs a week. A whole week. Open template. Duplicate. Swap text layers. Find the logo. Import. Drop it into the precomp. Set Anchor Point. Position. Scale. Parent to Shape Layer. Add a circle mask. Build master. And do that 250 times.
I sat there, looked at the timeline, and thought: nope. Not happening.
The AI Pivot
So I went to ChatGPT. Told it what I needed. Best I could. And we started writing a JSX script.
First version? Rough. But we kept going. I tested. We fixed. Handled the ugly stuff: file naming quirks, missing logos, broken imports, case differences, extra spaces. Just wanted it to work.
And then it did.
The script reads a TSV. Loops through templates. Duplicates comps. Replaces text. Finds logos in a folder. Imports them. Swaps the placeholder inside the precomp. Creates a new layer. Sets Anchor Point to 256,234. Position to -509,0. Scale to 95%. Parents it to Shape Layer 1. Adds a circle mask as Track Matte inside the precomp. Disables the old layer. Builds the master comp. All of it.
Run it. 10 minutes. Done.
250 videos. Ready for the sales team.
Not saying AI did the whole thing for me. It didnât. But it helped me build the thing I had no time or patience to build. It killed the boring part. Left the creative part.
Why This Matters for B2B and SaaS Video Production
This wasnât a birthday slideshow. This was a revenue-driving asset. A personalized video campaign that let a sales team walk into 250 enterprise conversations with something that felt custom-made.
At LeoStudio, we build B2B explainer videos and SaaS product videos that actually move pipeline. And AI automation like this is how we scale personalization without scaling headcount.
Itâs not about replacing motion designers. Itâs about removing the grunt work so we can focus on story, pacing, design, and the stuff that actually needs a human.
What Motion Designers and Founders Can Take Away
- AI is a superpower, not a threat. It doesnât replace the artist. It replaces the copy-paste.
- Automation is a competitive advantage. While others are manually duplicating comps, you can be iterating on creative.
- Personalization at scale is real. 250 videos with custom logos, names, and CTAs? Not a problem when you have a script.
So yeah. Thatâs the win.
Anyone else automating boring After Effects work with AI? Whatâs worked for you? What hasnât? Curious.
